Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas, Inc. (HVSD) began serving homeless veterans in February of 2004. The organization was formed at that time as a 501(c)3. Ever since then and as needs have increased, we have expanded our focus to meet the needs of our veterans and their families'. HVSD is dedicated to improving the lives of homeless or at-risk veterans and their families.
Since 2009 we have partnered with the Dallas VA for the Homeless Veterans Stand Down. We have also co-partnered with the Homeless Veterans Stand Down in Tarrant County since 2010.
On September 11, 2011, we expanded our operations and had the ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the Veterans Resource Center of Dallas (VRC). The VRC is managed by HVSD and since 9/11/2011 we have served over 60,000 veterans.
The Veterans Resource Center provides the first point of contact for Veterans needing to connect to nonprofit, employment, educational, and VA resources, in order to provide paths towards self-sufficiency.
Our Day Center- Provides homeless and re-integrating veterans with centric day services including, but not limited to access for showers, laundry, computer lab, TV lounge. The center also has a Dallas County Veterans Service Officer onsite to help you with filing for veteran benefits/appeals etc.
Our new Women's Business Center provides safe female-oriented care and services for our female veterans.
The goal of our organization is to help alleviate the problems existing within the veteran community. Including, but not limited to providing training, educational services, camaraderie, assistance with transitional, and permanent housing.
